YOUTH MINISTRY GRANT 2014

Each year the Pacific Southwest District Youth Committee offers grant funding to support youth ministry within the district.

HISTORY OF THE GRANTS

A number of years ago the Walther League of Southern California purchased and operated a home as a hospice for young people moving to the Los Angeles area. When the hospice was sold some years ago the monies were set aside as an endowment fund for youth ministry.

The funds, invested in The Lutheran Church Extension Fund provide between $3,000 and $5000 annual interest for use in youth ministry projects. The projected interest income for 2014 is $3,200. The District Board of Directors of The Pacific Southwest District - LCMS has delegated the responsibility to publicize the program, seek applications for grants, and recommend projects for approval to the District Youth Committee.

PURPOSE OF THE FUND

To stimulate and encourage creativity in youth ministry programming within the District.

To enable congregations and individuals to plan and carry out youth ministry projects where it might otherwise be impossible because of lack of funds.

Any project, program or event in which youth might be serving or which might be serving the needs of youth will be eligible for consideration. Youth is understood in its broadest sense, to include children through young adults. Recent grants given have been between $100 - $750. Grants for facilities, equipment, staff or publicity will not be accepted.

WHO CAN APPLY?
